Inversion Therapy is an ongoing collection of tracks submitted by local artists who have played at least one Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings live show since 2012.
Volume one contains 20 fine examples of the weird and wonderful things that are happening in the North East of England, presented in a useful alphabetical index.
Ballpeen - Daggers, Everywhere!
The (not so) new kings of Newcastle noise rock, featuring members of Tide of Iron, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaind, Grace, etc. At the time this was the first place to get a track of theirs I believe. Releases have since come out via our friends at Serial Bowl Records and Cruel Nature Records.

Blind Spite - ∞
Formed in Carlisle in 1996, Blind Spite unfortunately called it a day in 2016. We had them play their signature blend of blackened death metal a fair few times during their last 4 years. Sorely missed by many.

Chonyid - Gutor (Networked Exorcism 1)
Experimental noise trio currently spread across the land. This new piece was recorded live and improvised via the internet using raw data processing.

Church Burner - Chouondou (The Tower of Sound Waves)
A pitch black canvas of filth, painted with sloppy brush strokes of no audience black metal and crumbling electronic dirge. Various tapes out on the mysterious Shadow of Venom label.

Dolmen Dweller - Mandible
Ominous solo vocal drone experiments from the bearded mouth of Inverted Grim-Mill's most regular performer, James Watts. He also appears on four other tracks on this compilation.

Dressed In Wires - No Skull, And This Grim Cyst
Preplexing audiences since 2002, churning out countless mangled electronic splatterings as self releases and a few on foolish record labels.

Fret! - Some Mess Fools
A sneaky wander into the practice room for a sample of the riff generator unit warming up. Plenty of proper releases out on guitarist Steve Strode's quality label Cruel Nature Records:

Lovely Wife - Audible Beef (Radio Edit)
No strangers to Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings, with a bunch of stuff out on the label before this, and absolutely nothing since. Jon of The Smokin' Coconuts plays guitar on this one. The whole thing was improvised as always.

Möbius - Amphibian
The intertwining voices of Skylar Gill and James Watts merge and contrast to create indiscernible vocal drones. Debut CD on Inverted Grim-Mill sold out but still available to download:

Plague Rider - Prion
Yellow-wearing, ice cream loving technical death metal outfit. New* EP on the way real soon... for now, here's one from their self released 2015 EP, Paroxysm. It is also yellow.
*This EP turned out to be Rhizome, available on our bandcamp page.

Platemaker - House of Tides
Powerful electronics. Ear plugs turn to dust. Teeth rattle. Several people leave the room. Rob Woodcock is a one man noise machine. Self releasing through Shy Bairns, where you can also get the legendary Tide of Iron collection featuring his 'hitting things' skills:

Prolefeed - Glass Jaw And Heroin Legs
Here's a new one from the North-East's favourite fast punks. Always a pleasure to watch these guys cause a ruckus. Countless records available featuring the superb artwork of bassist Daniel Hughes, who has also done us a few gig posters over the years.

Snakes Don't Belong In Alaska - Mulder's Bane
Extended slow moving psychedelic jams for listening to while melting into some kind of comfortable seating arrangement with a healthy salad and a can of Irn Bru. Until a recent line-up change, they often released things via our frequent gig booking collaborators Infinity Mirror Records, which is also operated by a former Snake.

st james infirmary - A Report
G W Lang has been making and performing music as St James Infirmary since 1985 and has yet to be stopped. His continued interest in sonic weirdness and collaboration has landed him opening slots on all manner of strange bills, including that time when we had him on with Wren and Pijn. Here he is conducting a report of some sort. There is a facebook page but I seem to be unable to tag it at this moment in time.

Tong Po - No Sleeves (demo)
Instrumental riffers Tong Po have thusfar remained a bit of a rarity, only playing a select handful of shows. Despite that, they always bring some serious heft, hardly surprising for a band featuring two thirds of Ballpeen.

Waheela (whla) - The Year of Exciting Belts
For the last decade or so, Waheela have been consistently belting out improvised sounds varying from drone to full on noise rock. Often released via free CD-Rs only available at their relatively rare shows, including the semi-regular GNAW fest.

wreaths - Sorries
Emanating from four-track experimentation, Wreaths makes tape-hiss-shrouded, grainy and weathered noise/drone/field recordings on increasingly decaying equipment. This piece was taken from his then latest album, The Sea To Which The Body Is Drawn. We later released it on CD, and there have been two newer wreaths download releases more recently:

Wrest - Live at The Cluny 24/6/2017
Jamie Stuart has been a master of performance noise for over a decade. While there are plenty of very hard to find CD-Rs and tapes of his live sounds, there is nothing quite like witnessing him perform. This recording is his entire set from the Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings 5th birthday party all dayer.
No links.
Xazzaz - Revenant
Isolated noise, drone and guitar experiments from the wilds of Northumberland. Much like Wrest, Xazzaz has been churning out his works for ten years, mostly via CD-R and cassette on shadowy underground labels such as Matching Head and his own Molotov records.

Yersin - Dave Mustaine Must Die
Sunderland grindy punks who don't like Dave Mustaine. This track is taken from their debut self released CD-R, Vulgarians. They also sell home brew made in a South Shields bathtub.
